What a fantastic end of term for year 5! We are all tired and in need of a break but it has all been worth it. Year 5 have been very busy in maths, we have been stretching our understanding of the reflection and translation of shapes. We used the mirror line for symmetry and found the lesson fun. We also practised the position and movement of shapes using the x and y-axis. In writing, we had the opportunity to write our own myths using the gods/ goddesses we created for our non chronological report. Of course we are lucky in year 5 to have creative writers in our classes. We explored the Trojan War for Humanities and learned how one theory involved a very pretty lady and a horse full of soldiers but we will leave you to find out more from the children.
It has been a very enjoyable term with many opportunities to learn different things and try new experiences. We made the heads of Gods and Goddesses out of clay this week and enjoyed moulding and shaping the features of their faces. Most of all this week has been about the opportunities we have been allowed to have by going on residential to Kingswood: resilience, perseverance, teamwork and communication have all been used. I'm sure the children will spend the whole of Easter break reflecting and loving every minute of the trip. The children at school also had many opportunities for different experiences with Mrs Andrews. They did baking, problem solving, art and enjoyed each other's company massively. Mrs Gambriel said their behaviour was impeccable.
