Wow what another busy term! We hope the children have enjoyed it as much as we have.
We are so pleased to say that our residential trips have restarted and our Year 5s are currently returning from a very busy couple of days having had an amazing experience at Kingswood. Please see some photos below.
Today, we sadly say goodbye to Miss McDougall, Year 4 Teacher and Mrs O'Connor, Office Administrator, we wish them both well for the future and thank them for all their hard work at Brookfield. Please join us all in welcoming Ms Saxby, Year 4 Teacher and Mrs Chadha, Office Administrator.
We are delighted to announce that we have been graded as 'Leading' in our recent Challenge Partners Review. Please see below for more detailed information.
We would like to wish you all a very enjoyable Easter Holidays and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 25th April.
Brookfield Primary Academy and our family of schools within the LEO Trust are members of Challenge Partners, an education charity that enhances collaboration between schools and enables schools to 'improve each other and the education system as a whole'. Challenge Partners facilitates collaboration in many ways. Each year, a three-day review of member schools is undertaken by an Ofsted-trained reviewer and a team of senior leaders from schools across the country. The review is an open, challenging process which supports learning and reflection within schools. We are proud to announce that for 2021/2022, we have been graded as 'Leading' in all areas! Thank you to our children for being so amazing as always and to our staff who continue to work hard to ensure that the children at Brookfield get the best offer possible.
Snippets from the Report:
The school is well led. Regular sharing of school development priorities has produced an enthusiastic and highly effective team.
Leaders base all areas of their work on their desire to ‘foster a passion for learning in all’. Their aim is to encourage pupils to develop as self-directed and collaborative learners who develop the confidence to face all challenges.
Leaders have developed an enriched and ambitious curriculum which focuses on developing progressive knowledge and skills to enable pupils to develop a deep understanding of the wider world.
Pupils’ enjoyment has encouraged them to develop an in-depth learning of topics, as evidenced by a Year 6 boy who stated ‘we have learnt about the refugee crisis during the second World War. This has helped us to understand the current problems in Ukraine.’
Pastoral care is at the heart of Brookfield and its dedicated staff know the pupils as individuals and nurture, adapt and support them accordingly.
Teachers have established warm relationships with their pupils, who are very responsive and remain engaged throughout lessons. The caring, nurturing ethos of the school ensures that pupils’ wellbeing has a high profile and there are high levels of respect between all.
It encourages pupils to take risks with their learning. This was clearly demonstrated by a Year 6 pupil who shared, ‘our teachers have taught us how to care for different age pupils in our school. This has allowed us to make new friendship groups, which has given us lots of new experiences and interests.’
The school’s governors complete a regular and effective monitoring cycle. They focus on areas of school performance and provide effective challenge which moves the school forward.
Pupils are very proud of the role that the school has played in their learning, and they appreciate when teachers plan activities closely matched to their interests.
Attitudes to learning are highly positive. Pupils are fully focused and engaged in lessons because of teachers’ high expectations for challenge, behaviour, and learning.
The school clearly promotes a message that ‘all pupils deserve success regardless of their backgrounds and abilities’ in all elements of its work .
All pupils with disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils receiving an increased focus to ensure that both their academic and pastoral needs are met precisely.
Year 5 had a fantastic trip away at Kingswood! The children have had many opportunities to practice problem solving, to work on team building, practice better communication and most of all, have lots of fun! They have enjoyed the Leap of Faith, Nightline, an obstacle course, climbing plus many more activities. Our children are role models for our school as their behaviour and attitude have been exemplary from getting on the bus to going to bed at night. The staff at Brookfield could not be more proud. We would also like to pass on our thanks to the parents for being so efficient, organised and supportive in getting their children ready; trips do not happen without supportive parents. All in all, Kingswood has been a successful trip for our Year 5 pupils.

Our Digital Leaders were lucky to be invited to the BETT conference at the ExCel in London! We had an amazing time investigating new technology to support the LEO Academy Trust in making decisions on educational technology hardware and software and furthering our digital package. They spent the day talking to other teachers’ and professionals about their experiences of technology for learning at LEO, as well as trialling out new, innovative products from the EdTech sector which could be used back in school to aid learning.
We even took part in Kids Judge BETT where Emily, Tom and Argan got to choose winners of the conference and appear on stage! We can't wait to go again next year!!!
The reception and nursery children were very excited to be visited by the farm. We saw donkeys, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, lambs, a dog, bunnies, guinea pigs and ducklings.
The children learned a variety of facts about animals like why we keep them on a farm, what the names for animals are and even got to feed lambs. They held the animals also and brushed some. The children learned proper names for male and female animals and were very enthusiastic to learn about the animals.
Year 5 Sutton and Cheam Cup Finalists!
Well Done to our Year 5 Boys' Football Team, who have made it through to the final of the u10 Sutton and Cheam Cup after beating St. Cecilia's 3-1 on Monday in the semi-final. Although Brookfield didn't win the competition as a school, Alex in Moonstone managed to come third out of all the children that took part! Congratulations!

Alex (1st place), Zain (2nd place) and Ian (3rd place). Well done!
This week, our fabulous mathematicians have had the chance to practise their mental maths skills to quickly find 24 in the popular 24Game. There are so many different ways to solve each game and these children are really quick to identify them. They are becoming quite confident at code breaking and they worked in teams to crack the code as fast as possible, competing with the other teams. This time they had to find the London attractions after decoding the message and working out the clues.
