Year 4 have had a very busy couple of weeks. As well as joining the rest of the school in celebrating National Book Week by dressing up as our favourite book characters, we created a slide deck about our favourite book, wrote a World Book Day rap with the help of MC Grammar and explored the book ‘Welcome to Grimwood’ by Nadia Shireen. This week, we have been exploring the story of Beowulf and used it to write in role as a Viking warrior describing the encounter with the Grendel in an informal letter. In maths, we have been measuring and comparing units of measurement for mass, height, volume and length. We used our knowledge of decimals to help us record our answers. We particularly enjoyed measuring our height in the playground. In Science, we continued to explore the digestive system by writing about the journey of a sandwich from being bitten until it has left the body. This week, we identified the different types of teeth and what function they have . We have begun our DT project by sketching Viking Warriors which we are going to make into a 3d creation. In our Humanities lessons, we have been exploring recent evidence to discover if Vikings were just raiders or how much they settled in Britain.
Measuring our height, drawing a line at our feet and at our heads and measuring in between our lines.
Identifying different types of teeth in our mouths.
What is the role of each type of tooth?
