Year 3 have been busy working on adding 3 digit numbers in maths. We have been using dienes to show our thinking as well as drawing out our thinking to reach the correct answer. Within English, we have continued reading Akimbo and the Elephants. Year 3 wrote fantastic animal poems last week and we are looking forward to reading their diary entries next week! Within Science, the children were excellent scientists making predictions about how much sugar was in different drinks. We had great discussions and the children were surprised with some of the results! Within our Art lessons this week, children have been experimenting with using charcoal to create different shapes and lines. On Tuesday, we enjoyed taking part in European Languages day learning how to say hello in different languages!
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - We are continuing with our addition and subtraction chapter. Next wee we will be focusing on using the column method for adding 3 digit numbers moving into renaming.
Writing - We are continuing with our Akimbo and the elephants text and will be writing a diary entry as Akimbo as he goes on a very interesting adventure.
Reading - Our skill next week is explaining the meaning of words. We will be looking at two different extracts to see how to approach unfamiliar words.
Geography - Within our Amazing Africa topic we will be comparing the UK to Kenya looking at the similarities and differences.
Science - Next week we will be looking at vertebrates and invertebrates.
