We have had a busy couple of weeks in Year 1. The sun came out for our teddy bears picnic and all the children and teddies had a great time. We even did a huge conga round the playground just like the teddies did in the book! This week we have started our writing journey based on the story of 'Paddington' by Michael Bond. We wrote captions to go with images from the story remembering to start our sentences with a capital letter, use finger spaces and finish our sentences with a full stop. In maths, we have been exploring greater than and less than as well as one more and one less. In art, we explored the techniques of smudging and blending using pastels. We used these techniques to create colourful spiral pictures in our art sketchbooks. In computing, we have been thinking about being safe online. We do this by remembering three important rules: Always ask your adult first, only talk to people you know and stick to places that are just right for you. In science, we have been continuing to explore our senses. This week's focus has been the sense of taste. The lemon was really sour!
