Birthday Treats/Allergies
As you may be aware, we have a number of children in school who have a wide variety of allergies. Please can we ask that if you wish to bring in a birthday treat for your child's class that this is not food related. Some examples of birthday treats that are acceptable are pencils, books for the class, a small wet play game or bookmarks.
Thank you for your continued support with this.
On a similar note, please rememer that we are a nut free school and your child's packed lunch should reflect this.
Equipment Reminder
May we please remind you that children should bring all their equipment into school with them in the morning. In KS2, charged Chromebooks should be brought in every day for learning. As Autumn, and subsequently Winter, approaches the children should always have a coat with them.
Thank you for your co-operation. This will ensure that all children are well prepared for their day and limits the disruption to learning when things come in late and have to be taken to the class.

I am Melissa Bailey and am pleased to introduce myself as the new family support worker at your school. I have extensive experience working with families, children and young people in multiple settings, ranging from creches, nurseries and schools, as well as mother and baby units. Therefore, I have experience of working integratively with young people and families and am looking forward to embarking on this new journey.
I am available every Tuesday’s 8:30-10:30 am and Wednesdays 8:30am-4pm, if there is anything you need help and support with, or just for a friendly face and a chat.
There are many different views about physical chastisement, but it is widely accepted there are much more effective ways to teach children right from wrong.
As a local authority, Sutton has seen a number of children coming to the attention of police and social care due to the use of physical chastisement and as such has worked with other local authorities on an initiative to reduce this number.
In line with this initiative, we agree that anything that causes harm to a child is unacceptable.
As a school, we have a duty to report incidents of suspected or confirmed physical chastisement to social care and the police and this can be with ot without visible bruising, grazes, scratches, minor swelling, cuts as well as stress injuries from prolonged standing, position holding as these are banned by law in the United Kingdom.
Smacking or chastising that does not leave a mark is now illegal in Wales and Scotland, and there is currently pressure being placed on the Government to make it illegal in England and Northern Ireland too. It is therefore important to understand that even if a child has been smacked but no injuries are visible, social care or the police may still choose to take further action.
If you would like support on how to manage your child’s behaviour at home, please do not hesitate to contact us, we are here to help.
