Year 6 have had a great couple of weeks! In English, we have been writing diary entries from a soldier's point of view at one of the D Day landings. We used emotive vocabulary and figurative language to explain our feelings. Watching a short film called "Beyond The Lines" really helped us to imagine what it might have felt like to be on one of the beaches. In maths, we have enjoyed learning how to draw and measure angles using a protractor. Having the freedom to use our desks definitely helped! In science, we studied warm-blooded vertebrates and how to classify them. In art, we finished our layered self-portraits, inspired by Mike Barrett. We are really proud of them! In reading lessons, we enjoyed the opportunity to produce our own retrieval, vocabulary and inference questions to ask our partners.
Finally, PSHE has been really thought-provoking! In small groups, we chose a charity and thought of ways we could raise money to support it. We put together slide shows and enjoyed performing them to the class.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Nets of shapes
Writing - Writing poetry inspired by Letters From The Lighthouse
Reading - We will be studying poems and their meanings
History - World War 2 - The impact on women's lives
Science - Living Things - Invertebrates
