What a busy couple of weeks we have had in Reception!
Last week we enjoyed reading a selection of 'Harry and the Dinosaurs' stories. We talked about our favorite parts of the stories and wrote our own dinosaur facts. We tried hard to write the sounds we could hear in words while still remembering to use a capital letter, finger spaces, and a full stop. In maths we practiced using a number line to help solve addition calculations. We celebrated science week by dissolving the sugar on Skittles to make a colourful rainbow and creating our own lava lamps.
This week we have explored the underwater world by reading the story 'Tiddler'. Tiddler has a fantastic imagination and tells lots of tall tales about why he is late for school. We thought of some of our own ideas about why he might be late and had a go at drawing and writing them. We also explored the National Geographic website to find out more about animals that live under the water. In maths we have been practicing writing numbers to 20, trying hard to write each one the right way around.
Over the last few weeks, we have been completing an exciting DT project. We have learnt how to thread a needle and use it to make stitches in binca. We then designed and stitched our own designs onto a bookmark.
