Year 5 have been busy bees in the last couple of weeks! In English, they've finished their narratives in role as Bear and have now moved onto building strong arguments, debating whether to help Bear find his way home. Maths whizzes have conquered percentages and are now mastering the art of measuring angles with protractors. Over in Geography, the focus remains on our beautiful coral reefs, exploring why they need protecting. Last week the children thoroughly enjoyed their science workshop where they got to participate in some excellent experiments. Science has taken a fascinating turn, investigating irreversible changes – sparking some great discussions! Finally, Year 5 have been getting financially savvy, learning the importance of making smart choices with their money.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - We will be continuing our topic on geometry.
Writing - We will be writing our balanced argument based on our class text 'The Last Bear'.
Reading - In Reading we will be focusing on a mixture of retrieval, inference and prediction.
Geography - We will be continuing to explore why our oceans are important.
Science - We will be continuing to focus on different everyday materials.
