In English over the last two weeks, Year 1 have enjoyed reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We explored the character of Goldilocks and wrote a letter of apology from Goldilocks to Baby Bear. In maths, we have been adding to 20 using the strategies of counting on and making 10 first then adding the rest. In science, we have investigated the toughness of materials. The children have really enjoyed our moving parts DT project. They used a sideways sliding mechanism to make a snowman move across their picture. Everyone was pleased with their final products! In geography, we have continued our work with creating maps with keys and thought about what our perfect playground might look like. We had some amazing playground designs!
Spring 1:
Maths - We will exploring 2D and 3D shape as well as identifying and continuing shape patterns and sequences.
Writing - Throughout the term we will be writing a diary entry, recount and an information text. We will continue to reinforce writing sentences which start with a capital letter and have a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark at the end. We wi
History - In history we will be answering the question 'How have toys changed?'
Science - After half term we will be exploring our senses.
Art: In art we will be exploring printing. We will be making and using our own printing tiles to create printed pieces of artwork.
