What a busy fortnight it's been in Year 6! In English, we put our persuasive writing skills to the test, creating eye-catching leaflets to encourage families to holiday at Camp Green Lake (hopefully they'll pack plenty of sunscreen!). Maths saw us wrap up our fractions topic and dive headfirst into the world of decimals. We've been exploring the clever link between fractions and decimals, discovering how fractions can help us solve tricky decimal problems. Our geography lessons took an exciting turn as we started our new topic, "Why does population change?" We've been busy investigating all the different factors that influence where people choose to settle down. And in science, we've been shedding some light on the matter – literally! We kicked off our "Light and Reflection" topic with two fascinating experiments that showed us just how light travels. Then, we turned our attention to how our amazing eyes allow us to see, learning about the importance of protecting them from bright lights. We also marked Anti-Bullying Week by sporting our odd socks with pride and participating in a workshop all about respect.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - multiplying and dividing decimals.
Writing - writing a non-chronological report about lizards based on a chapter in Holes.
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - looking at measuring shadows and reflecting light.
