Welcome back from the Year 3 team. Since we have returned, Year 3 has been very busy. We have been learning our times tables and division facts. We have used these new skills to help us answer word problems. In science, we have had fun learning about friction and how important it is in our everyday lives. Geography has been very interesting as we are learning about tectonic plates and how mountains are formed. We have learned about block mountains, volcanic mountains, and fold mountains. We watched a workshop all about anti-bullying where we met Milly and Philip. They helped us to understand what bullying is and how silly it is to listen to other people when they are making the wrong choices. Amazing castles was the way ahead in DT. The children have worked very hard to create imaginative castles out of recyclable materials.
The children continue to read every night and sign their reading records. They are practicing their times tables to achieve their 144. By using Century, the children are also accessing the maths, reading, writing, and science nuggets to advance their understanding.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - the children will be looking at multiplication and division so it's time to swat up on TTRS.
Writing - Our text will be "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" and we will be creating diary entries.
Geography - Our Geography topic that we are looking at this half term is "Why do people live near volcanoes?"
Science - Our Science topic that we are looking at this half term is "Forces and magnets."
