This week we have been learning:
Maths - we have been using our known 2, 5 and 10 times table facts to create arrays and solve word problems. Remember that the children should be starting to explore Times Table Rock Stars now. This extra bit of support at home will help the children's fluency and help them achieve more success in lessons later in the year.
Writing - we have planned, written and then edited a diary based on the book, "Meet... Captain Cook".
Geography - we have used Google Earth to explore where the cold places on the planet are. We have located the North and South Poles, the Arctic and Antarctica and thought about why they are so cold there.
Science - we have looked at what worms need in a habitat to survive and seeing if we can create one for our classroom.
Year 2 have also been lucky enough to join in an Anti-Bullying workshop this week!
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - we will be using what we have learnt over the last two weeks with our 2, 5 and 10 times tables to work out division questions. We will look at sharing items equally between different groups to help us with our learning.
Writing - we will be learning about adverbs and imperative verbs and thinking about how we would find them and use them in a recipe.
Science - we will be going on a mini-beast hunt to see what creatures live in habitats around our school.
