Year 5 have enjoyed another exciting couple of weeks. They have been scaling the heights of geographical knowledge with their study of the Alps, finding out about their location and what it's like to live there. They've embarked on a culinary adventure in DT, exploring different flavours and textures of bolognese sauce, ready to make their own version in a couple of weeks. In English, (inline with their new class text, The Last Bear) they've ventured to the icy expanse of the Arctic, where they've crafted vivid descriptions of the stunning landscapes and the unique wildlife that call this region home. Finally, in science, they have conducted experiments to investigate the transparency of various substances, from clear glass to opaque wood. By observing the behaviour of light as it passes through different materials, our students have gained a deeper understanding of the properties of matter.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Division
Writing - Our new class text, 'The Last Bear' and focusing on an informal letter
Geography - 'What is life like in The Alps?' Next, we will be doing a study of a city in Austria - Innsbruck
Science - 'Properties and Changes, ' looking at conductivity.
