Year 6 has been a hive of activity these past two weeks! We've been sharpening our grammar skills in English, ensuring our writing is clear and precise. Maths has seen us wrap up our exploration of volume and dive into the fascinating world of geometry, where we've been discovering the relationships between angles, including the rule that opposite angles are equal. Our artistic talents have been unleashed in art, as the children created unique self-portraits reflecting their personalities and interests. We also thoroughly enjoyed participating in the art gallery this afternoon, admiring the incredible work of our fellow students. In science, we've concluded our evolution and inheritance topic with a hands-on experiment. This week, children tested different 'beaks' to see which would give them the highest chance of survival, demonstrating the principles of natural selection in action. History has taken a serious turn as we examined the devastating impact of the Blitz on Britain during World War II. Finally, we marked Safer Internet Day by engaging with the Internet Legends assembly and completing a Safer Internet activity mat, reinforcing the importance of online safety.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Geometry
Writing - We will be writing a persuasive letter based on characters from Letters From The Lighthouse.
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - We will be moving onto our new topic, 'Circuits, batteries and switches.'
