Year 5 have had a great couple of weeks, demonstrating exceptional progress in a variety of subjects. In reading, the children have been eagerly exploring new texts and deepening their understanding of characters and plots. They have used these skills to act out play scripts. Science has also been a fascinating subject. They have conducted exciting filtering experiments, using a variety of different materials. Their curiosity and thirst for knowledge have been commendable. To celebrate National Poetry Day, they were inspired by this year's theme 'Everyone Counts.' They all wrote a poem about something or someone that counts for them. In PE, Year 5 have been developing their teamwork skills, focusing on passing, catching and the rudiments of tag rugby. During Daily Mile, when the weather has been too wet to go outside, they've even enjoyed playing Silent Catch in the classroom! Their positive attitude and sportsmanship have been exemplary. Finally, Year 5's artistic and musical talents have been on full display this week. They have continued their work on typography, creating beautiful and imaginative lettering, ready to produce their own 3D maps in the next couple of weeks. In music, they have continued to enjoy singing sea shanties.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
