Year 1 have enjoyed using the stimulus of the story of Paddington Bear for their writing. The children have written their own version of the story, trying hard to use language from the story. In maths we have been using part part whole models to represent numbers. In sciences we have been exploring how seasonal changes affect trees. In history we have been finding out about what childhood was like in the 1960's and 1970's. We thought about what was similar and different about the way birthdays were celebrated then and now.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - We will be adding and subtracting with in 10. We will also be continuing to use part part whole models to represent calculations.
Writing - Our new writing stimulus will be 'Peace at Last'. We will be exploring the main character, sequencing the story and writing a retell of the story. We will continue to focus on using capital letters and full stops in our sentences.
History - In history will be exploring the similarities and differences between childhood in the past and the present.
Science - In science we will be exploring change over time, including changes in the temperature over the different seasons.
