Over the past few weeks the children have been reading the story 'Spot goes to school' as part of our theme 'Starting Nursery' and the book 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' as part of our theme 'This is me'.
We have also been singing the songs, 'wind the bobbin up', 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' and 'the wheels on the bus'. The children have been trying very hard to learn the words and actions to the songs and are doing a great job.
With some help and encouragement, the children's independence skills are increasing and they are starting to learn how to put their coats on by themselves.
This week we have been practising our mark making skills and during a carpet session followed step by step instructions of how to draw a face. We thought about the features that we would need to include (eyes and mouth), where they should go on our drawings and what shapes they should be.
On Friday nursery go to the hall for their P.E. sessions. The children have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the parachute the past few weeks and have been learning how to make big and little waves. They even had a chance to crawl under the parachute and swap places with one of their classmates.
Over the next couple of weeks, the children will continue to settle into the routines of Nursery and make lots of new friends!
We will be reading the story 'We're going on a bear hunt' and learning about our five different senses.
