Year 4 have been busy researching ideas and prevention methods to prevent a future volcanic eruption and have written persuasive letters to the counsellor of Pompeii in English lessons. In Reading the children have been working hard on developing their explaining and retrieval skills. In Maths, we worked on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 and have started working on adding and subtracting within 10,000, laying a strong foundation for future mathematical adventures. During Science lessons, we explored difference in teeth of different animals and their eating habits. And in History, we evaluated the impact Lord Shaftesbury had on children's lives in our topic 'How children's lives have changed'.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Over the next few weeks the children will continue working on adding and subtracting within 10 000.
Writing - We will continue working on our Power of Reading text "Escape from Pompeii" and will be writing a newspaper report.
History - We will continue to explore how children's lives have changed, over time.
Science - Science investigation will further explore producers, prey and predators in food chain, and investigate clues about animal digestion, teeth and diet.
