Year 6 have been incredibly busy these past two weeks! In English, our focus has shifted to practical writing, as we crafted detailed first aid instructions, inspired by the wartime setting of "Letters From The Lighthouse." It's been fascinating to see how they've applied their understanding of the book to real-world scenarios. Maths saw us diving into the world of data, mastering the calculation of the mean (average) and learning how to present information visually with pie charts. In History, we continued our exploration of World War II, focusing on the experiences of evacuees and the vital roles women played on the home front. Did you know that during WWII, many women took on jobs traditionally held by men, such as working in factories and driving ambulances? In Design and Technology, the children have begun the exciting process of designing the nets for their steady hand games, demonstrating their creativity and problem-solving skills. Finally, Science was electrified by a hands-on workshop about static electricity, leaving the children buzzing with new knowledge.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Negative numbers
Writing - We will be looking at poetry.
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - We will be looking at current and resistance.
History - We will be looking at migration to Britain in World War 2.
