Year 3 have been busy bees! We were very excited to have a film crew in school recently, capturing Curie class taking part in the Daily Mile. We had great fun running and showing off our super fitness skills.
In Science, we've been learning all about what the human body needs to stay healthy and survive. We now know how important it is to eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get lots of sleep!
Our Maths brains have been working hard too! We've been exploring renaming numbers, which means taking from the hundreds and tens to work out subtraction and addition calculations. We were using counters and other manipulatives to help us create the problems so that we could move and swap different values.
In history, we were looking at how trade developed with the emergence of the Iron Age and how different villages would trade with each other using the barter method before the introduction of simple money.
We're looking forward to more exciting learning next half term!
The children continue to read every night and sign their reading records. They are practicing their times tables to achieve their 144. By using Century, the children are also accessing the maths, reading, writing, and science nuggets to advance their understanding.
Please can all the children in Anning and Newton remember to bring in spare shoes for forest school on Wednesdays. This is important so as to not bring mud into the building.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - the children will be looking at multiplication and division so it's time to swat up on TTRS.
Writing - Our new text will be "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" and we will be creating diary entries.
Geography - Our new Geography topic that we will be looking at next half term will be "Why do people live near volcanoes?"
Science - Our new Science topic that we will be looking at next half term will be "Forces and magnets."
