Over the past two weeks Nursery have been reading 'The family book' and 'We're going on a bear hunt'. Reading the family book helped us to learn that there are lots of different types of families and that each family is special in its own way! The children really enjoyed sharing their family photos that had been sent in via Seesaw, showing them on the screen and telling their classmates who is in their photos! We have also enjoyed singing the songs '5 little speckled frogs' and 'Hickory dickory dock'.
This week we have been learning about our 5 senses and tested our sense of smell using the smelly pots, seeing if we could identify what was in each pot. We also explored with a mix of cornflour and water, using our sense of touch to move it around and describe how it felt.Â
In Phonics we have been listening to voice sounds (e.g. shhh, chchch, boing, wheee...) and making up our own stories using them. In Maths we have been learning about and ordering bigger and smaller items.
Independent skills continue to be worked on and the children have been practising very hard to put their coats on by themselves using the flip over method. This is where they have their coat on the floor, stand by the hood, put their arms into the armholes and then use their arms to flip the coat over the top of their head. They are all doing very well and are enjoying achieving this task.
The children in Nursery continue to play and work together, building their friendships and confidence in the classroom.
Next week we will be learning about emotions and feelings and learning about the 'Zones of Regulation'.
