We have had a wonderfully busy and exciting time in Year 3 recently, and the children have been working incredibly hard! Here’s a little snapshot of what we’ve been learning.
In Maths, we have been mastering multiplication and division. The children have focused brilliantly on learning their 4 and 8 times tables, and it has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they use these facts to solve tricky division problems. Keep up the great practice at home!
Persuasive Writers
Our English topic has taken us on an adventure to the centre of the Earth! Linking to our text and geography, the children have written absolutely amazing persuasive adverts encouraging people to take the perilous journey. We were blown away by their powerful verbs and exciting descriptions—we all wanted to book a ticket!
Geography has been all about the incredible planet beneath our feet. We have been investigating how mountains are created, learning all about the different types. The children loved exploring atlases to locate famous mountain ranges around the world, from the Alps to the Andes.
We've 'dug deep' to explore the structure of the Earth, learning about the four main layers: the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. The children were fascinated to discover that the crust isn't one solid piece, but is actually made up of tectonic plates that slowly move, which is how earthquakes happen and mountains are formed!
Well done for all your enthusiasm and hard work, Year 3!
