Over the last 2 weeks in English, our writing stimulus has been the fairy tale ' Jack and the Beanstalk'. The children have loved reading the story using prosody and acting out the story. We have learnt about adjectives and used them to write a setting description of what Jack saw from the top of the beanstalk.
In maths, the children have been using the crossing out and counting back methods to solve subtraction calculations. We have also been making fact families by creating two addition and two subtraction calculations using the same three numbers.
In science, we have begun to explore materials. We have been material detectives and sorted objects according to what material they were made of and their properties.
In geography, we have been making 'messy maps' of our classrooms by using objects to represent the tables, chairs and cupboards.
In PSHE, we have been thinking about how we are similar and different to our friends. We had an amazing workshop on Tuesday about being kind to each other.
Our learning for next week:
Maths - In maths we will be learning about ordinal number: 1st, 2nd, ,3rd, 4th ...
Writing - Our writing stimulus for the next few weeks will be the fairy tale 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We will be asking and writing questions, sequencing and acting out the story and writing a retell of the story.

Science - We will be exploring the properties of materials and using the terminology: flexibly, rigid, stretchy and transparent.
