Nursery have had a very busy few weeks.
In Phonics we have been looking at the sounds 'ck' and 'x' and learning about words that contain these sounds, such as 'sock', 'tick', 'wax' and 'fox'. In Maths we have been ordering and sequencing the story of Rainbow fish as well as working on our number recognition skills.
Our focus books for the past two weeks have been 'Commotion in the Ocean' and 'The Rainbow Fish'. Nursery have loved learning about some of the different animals that live under the sea. We have also learnt the Makaton sign for 'share' and have spoken about how important it is to share and how it makes us feel. The children continue to work on developing their fine motor skills when cutting out pictures to make under water animal stick puppets. The children then loved using these puppets to retell the stories that they had been reading.
The seeds that the children planted last half term have started to grow and they have been very excited to see how much everything has grown. We were even lucky enough to be able to pick some of the ones that are ready.
The children had a great time exploring mixing different colours together to see what they could make. Everyone took part in using their hands to mix two colours together to make a new one. We found out that mixing red and yellow makes orange, mixing red and blue makes purple and mixing blue and yellow makes green.
On Thursday Nursery had their Sports Day and the children took part in different activities including a tunnel crawl, walking while balancing a bean bag on their head, throwing and aiming, the egg and spoon race and a scooter run. They had all been practising very hard in the weeks before hand and their hard work shone through! Well done Nursery you were amazing!
