We will still have another couple of newsletters prior to the end of the school year but I just wanted to take this opportunity, with just a few weeks left of term, to let you know about a few members of staff who will be departing Cheam Park Farm at the end of term.
Firstly, I would like to share the news with you that Miss Gibney will be taking on the Vice Principal role at Cheam Fields in September. Having first started working at Cheam Park Farm Juniors in 2013, Miss Gibney has experienced working across both KS1 and KS2 before taking on the Vice Principal role here at Cheam Park Farm (and also carrying out the same role when seconded to Shawley). Whilst I know that she is sad to be moving on, I also know that she is looking forward to embracing a new challenge within one of the other LEO schools. We will miss having her around the school but know that we will continue to work alongside her as we work closely with our LEO colleagues from other schools.
Next, we are sadly saying goodbye this year to Miss Edwards. Miss Edwards' journey from Year 1 teacher all the way through to Year 6 teacher (via other year groups along the way) is nothing compared to her next challenge. She has made the decision to pursue a long held ambition of moving into secondary education to teach English at Carshalton High School for Girls. We are sad to be losing her dedicated approach to everything she does but know that she is going the thrive in her new environment and look forward to hearing all about it.
Finally, we will also be saying goodbye to Mr Nurse at the end of the year. Although he has only been with Cheam Park Farm for this academic year, he has taught every child in KS2 and also a number of children in KS1. He has been offered a Director of Football role at Radnor House in Sevenoaks and will, I'm sure, relish the opportunity that comes with such a role.
For all of those that are leaving us at the end of this academic year, both myself and the rest of the staff wish them all the best for whatever comes next and I'm sure parents will want to join me in echoing that sentiment and thank each of them for their commitment to the children of Cheam Park Farm over the years.
Mr Hudson.
The uniform shop now stocks uniform with our new school logo. This is now available via the SchoolWearInc website.
Any current school uniform (featuring our old logo) will still be able to be worn until your child has grown out of it.
Current uniform is currently being sold at a discounted price from the uniform shop.
From September, in line with the new LEO uniform policy, we will be asking all children to have black school shoes rather than trainers as part of their school uniform. Please consider this when you are purchasing your child's school shoes for September.
Our year 4 children had a brilliant week last week at High Ashurst.
The rock climbing at High Ashhurst was super high and fun. You didn’t have to wait for your turn, because the rest of your group were in charge of holding the rope to keep each other up. We had to be vigilant to make sure they were safe. I liked the challenge course too. It was cool. You had to have amazing team work and some good balance. - Ray (Earhart)
The high ropes were cool. Some people were afraid of heights but they had a go anyway. They were very brave! On the rock climbing everyone was very supportive which made it easier. We also had to build shelters, we needed a lot of team work to do this. We had to listen very carefully when doing the fire making because it can be very dangerous. We were all responsible when staying in the cabins and teepees. - Dottie (Johnson)
Well done to the KS2 choir children who took part in the KS2 Big Sing this week. They were incredible.
Thank you to Mr Barron for preparing the children so well.
Here are some quotes from our singers:
It was really fun because we got to perform in front of our parents. We were amazing! My favourite song we sang was ‘Proud’ by Heather Small. We sang in a big church and it was very exciting. I was a little bit scared because there were a lot of people watching, but i think we did amazingly. (Halle)
The big sing was wonderful! We had to stand in a rainbow shape to sing some beautiful songs. We sung ‘Kisne Banaya’, ‘Me’ and ‘Let love shine through’. I think more boys should join the choir. You get to perform in front of lots of people which makes me feel very proud of myself. (Agaran)
With the end of term fast approaching, please note that our after school clubs will finish at 4:30pm on Friday 19th July, in line with the earlier finishing time on this day. Please ensure alternative arrangements are made if necessary for any care required beyond 4:30pm.
Please remember, we finish at 1:20pm on Molesey Site and 1:30pm on Kingston Site.
As the weather is warming up, please ensure that children have sunhats and a water bottle in school.
Please ensure that children have applied sun cream in the morning.
Children in Year 6 are enthusiastically preparing for their end of year production of Disney's Aladdin Jr. Parts have been handed out and rehearsals are in full flow - we are looking forward to seeing it all come together in a few short weeks time. There are two casts in Year 6 and they will be performing their shows on the following dates:
Cast 1: Monday 15th July; 9:30am
Cast 2: Monday 15th July; 6:30pm
Cast 2: Wednesday 17th July; 9:30am
Cast 1: Wednesday 17th July; 6:30pm
We pride ourselves on offering our children varied and exciting experiences that help to support their learning of the curriculum. The School Fund will allow us to provide additional activities, school visits and enrichment opportunities across all year groups.
We have a voluntary school fund donation of £10 a term / £30 a year per child or £40 for a family if there are siblings at the school. We are aware of the current cost of living crisis and any donation will be gratefully received.
Parents can pay for School Fund online via our Arbor payment system. Log into the parent portal and on your child's home screen under accounts you will see School Fund, click into this and select Top Up Account. You can then choose to pay the £10, £30 or £40. Please ignore the weekly payments, you just need to make the one off payment for either the term or academic year as you choose.
We would like to thank you for your continued support.

A guide for parents: Transitioning from Primary to Secondary school
Starting a new school, with new teachers and classmates can be a very daunting and overwhelming thing. With that said, it is also a very exciting time and a big milestone which every young person experiences.
As a parent it is in our best interest to support our children through these unfamiliar times, therefore focusing on exciting opportunities such as: new subjects, activities and friends. Celebrating the milestone of finishing primary school, and all the ways they have grown, can really boost their self-esteem and confidence.
I understand that many of us may not have had a great school experience and the negative, worrying feelings that our children display could then trigger us and bring up some unwanted feelings and thoughts. Rest assured that you are not alone, we have all had some form of bad experience in our school days, but so long as we are encouraging and understanding, our children should feel at ease which will also be helpful for us as adults and parents.
If you would like any more support please feel free to contact the Family support worker.

This is given to children who have impressed their teachers throughout the course of the week. We also give one child per class a 'Be The Best You Can Be' certificate for demonstrating our Excellent Learner values. Finally, we also award a 'Rights Respecting' certificate to one child per class for demonstrating behaviour and attitudes that reflect our Rights Respecting approach in school.
