What a busy and exciting two weeks it's been for Year 4! Last week, our children had an absolute blast on their residential trip to High Ashurst. They threw themselves into a variety of physical activities, learning new skills and pushing their boundaries. We were so proud to receive many positive comments from the High Ashurst staff about our children's fantastic positive attitudes, especially as it was the first time away from home for many. And a huge shout-out to the children who stayed behind at school – they were brilliant little helpers and showed incredible maturity!
Back in the classroom, we have dived into our new Power of Reading text, 'Journey to the Last River', inspiring us to write fantastic setting descriptions with the purpose to inform. In Maths, our learners have been busy sharpening their multiplication skills, showing great determination. Science was all about exploring the viscosity of different liquids, which led to some fascinating discoveries. And in Geography, the children had a wonderful time on their trip to Morden Hall Park, learning all about the diverse uses of rivers.
It's been a truly memorable fortnight filled with growth, adventure, and lots of learning!
Over the next two weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Recapping addition and subtraction with renaming, division using the bus stop method and roman numerals.
Writing - Journey to the Last River - Writing a recount with the purpose to inform
Geography - What are rivers and how are they used? - What is a water cycle?
Science - Making Connections - Revisiting Unit States of Matter
