This half term our theme is 'Growing and transitions'. Over the past two weeks we have been reading the books 'Sharing a shell', 'The Squirrels who squabbled' and 'Mr Grumpy's Outing'.
In Maths, we have been thinking about capacity, learning about full, half full and empty and using our newly acquired skills in the water and sand trays. We continue to work on our counting accuracy and number recognition skills.
In Phonics, we have looked at the digraph 'ck' ('sock', duck' and 'clock') and phoneme 'x' ('box' and 'fox'). Each week we continue to work on our segmenting and blending skills, which help us to break down the different sounds in words and then blend them together again to remake the word (e.g. d-u-ck and b-o-x).
In Music, we have been using shakers that we made to sing along to our 'shake and stop' song. We have also been experimenting with different ways to say our names, such as loud, quiet, slow, quick, high and low. We have also had a go at clapping the syllables that we can hear in our names, as well as clapping the syllable in our classmates names.
In R.E. we have been thinking about special places and what they mean to us.
We have been busy practising for Sports Day working on our crawling, balancing and throwing skills.
