In English, we have been reading the story 'The Hundred Desker Bus' by Mike Smith. We have thought about what we liked about the story and why. We wrote a book review where we have summarised the story, explained why we liked it and gave recommendations. In maths we have been exploring capacity. We have compared amounts and have followed instructions to fill containers so they are full or half full. In science we have been using the story of 'The Oak Tree' by Julia Donaldson as a stimulus for finding out about woodland animals. In geography we have been looking at maps of our local environment and made our own map of the local environment which included a key.
Summer 2:
Maths - In maths we will be learning about capacity, money, mass and space.
Writing - In Summer 1 we will be exploring writing our writing a book review to discuss a book, writing an advert to persuade, writing descriptions and writing our own adventure story.
Geography - We will be exploring what it is like in Shanghai and comparing it to our local area.
Science - In Summer 2 we will be investigating science through story.
DT: Our new DT project will be to learn and use the skills to make fruit skewers.
