What a busy few weeks we have had in year 6.
In Engish, the children were tasked with writing balanced arguments. They worked really hard on writing formally. Once they'd finished writing these, Year 6 enjoyed using FlipGrid to record them. When reading them aloud, the children noticed where they needed to correct their grammatical mistakes and uplevel their work.
Year 6 have been continuing to tackle fractions. They have a good understanding of how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and have been using this knowledge to solve tricky word problems.
Year 6 were also very lucky to have been visited by Stephen Welding. They learnt all about how to stay staff online and considered their own digital footprints.
In music, the year 6 children thought of vocabulary linked to a powerful theme which then helped them create some lyrics. They created a short melody using a xylophone to go alongside their powerful words.
Year 6 were also very lucky and got to venture out of school to Sutton Life Centre. They learnt some important facts in life on how to navigate challenges and difficulties as they emback on one of the most underrated transitios in life: primary to secondary school. They would like to say thank you to Sutton Life Centre for providing real life situations to explore.
