Friday 18th November was BBC Children in Need Day.
We are all aware of the current climate with the cost of living crisis so we just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your incredibly kind donations (and it was probably a good excuse to empty those copper jars)!
The children had great fun covering Pudsey bears in coins and we are very pleased to inform you that we raised an AMAZING...................£516.36!!
Mr Fear and Mrs Langford enjoyed feeding the money into the Coinstar machine. The money was paid directly to Children in Need via the machine, no commission was taken as it was a charity donation.
Thank you again for your support with this wonderful charity.
Christmas Light Switch, Mini Fair and Elfridges shopping event for the children, after school on Friday 2nd December.
Year 2 Garnet Class will be transformed into an Elfridges Shop that will open at 3pm and close once the light switch on event finishes. Children can come in and purchase a gift, which will be wrapped up and labelled by our festive elves, ready to go under the tree. All gifts are £2.
We are also looking for small gift donations for the Elfridges shop so if you have any NEW, unused/unwanted gifts toiletries that you would like to donate (and clear out your cupboards before Christmas) we will happily accept these. Donations can be handed into the office from today.
We have been working really hard on organising the Light Switch On and Mini Fair, and have lots of game stalls for the children to enjoy whilst we await the lights being switched on. All games at the fair will be priced at 50p per go and we hope to make this event fun and affordable for everyone.
In addition to the games we will have light wands for sale priced at £2, and a sweet stall with varying prices for the sweets, along with Mulled Wine, Hot Chocolate, Tea, Coffee & Mince Pies/cakes. (If you would like to make/donate a cake for the fair these can be dropped off at the school hall from 1.30pm on Friday 2nd December.)
We will also have our bottle and chocolate tombola's, along with our raffle which has some incredible prizes including an Xbox Series S, a Kindle Fire, Pantomime tickets, theatre tickets and much more. Tickets for the raffle are priced at £5 per strip and you can purchase these on the Arbor Shop, or on the day from one of the PTFA team.
Children are allowed to wear their Christmas jumpers on Festive Friday instead of their normal school jumper.
As always, we are unable to do these events without you and your support. If you are free and able to volunteer to help us on the day, please complete this form. The more help/volunteers we have the better the event will be and the smoother everything will run. We literally cannot do it without support.
Festive Friday Volunteers Form
We are looking forward to seeing you all next Friday.
As you will all be aware the PTFA have very kindly organised a professional theatre company to come in and perform Aladdin, the show is 90 minutes long and will take place during the school day on Friday 9th December. There will be two performances, one in the morning for KS1 and another in the afteroon for KS2. This is such a wonderful, enriching and immersive experience for all our children, which will be both educational and fun.
The PTFA are asking for a contribution of £5 a ticket per child. The tickets can be purchased via the Arbor Shop, or alternatively you can pop the cash in an envelope (with your child's name and class) into the PTFA box in the school reception. Each child will also get a chocolate (or dairy free) treat from the PTFA to take home.
The cost of the pantomime has been hugely subsidised by the PTFA but they do need your support with ticket sales to make it happen. Please can you support the PTFA by purchasing tickets for your child/ren.
If you are struggling financially please speak to your class teacher and they can anonymously request a ticket for your child, and the PTFA will help if we can. For those of you who have offered to support other families, you can purchase additional tickets via the Arbor shop, just make a comment in the box at the checkout. Unlike the disco tickets, you can select the quantity of tickets required in one go rather than purchasing individually which will allow us to put towards the anonymous ticket requests.
A huge thank you to the parents who have already purchased their tickets and to those who have also purchased additional tickets.
Thank you always for your generosity.
Over the last few weeks at Sunsetters, we have been very busy and creative! The children have taken part in an array of activities and arts & crafts!
We did Pudsey and Blush plate faces and took part in a super colourful, soft and smelly messy play all for Children In Need.
We also did a time challenge where the children worked together in groups and against other groups, to build the most stable and highest spaghetti and marshmallow tower, the ones that stood for a minute won a prize!
Also as a reminder - on the last day of term, Friday 16th December the after school club (Sunsetters) will run from when the school finishes at 1:30pm until 4:30pm, we would be grateful if you could collect your child/ren by 4:30pm at the latest on this day.
Please note that if you choose to collect your child at 1:30pm when the school finishes, there will be no refunds.
Emmanuel Church (on Dudley Drive, Morden) are holding Advent Family Carols on Sunday 4th December at 10.30am. It is for all ages, lasts for about an hour, and will include a nativity play from scratch - children are invited to come dressed as a character from the nativity, or to use one of their costumes on the day. There will be favourite carols and action songs too - all are welcome.
During the week beginning 14th November, Brookfield celebrated our Diwali Week in RE. This began with a marvellous assembly from Nabhi, a member of a local Hindu temple, who helped the children act out the story of Rama and Sita and discussed how Diwali is celebrated. He answered questions about the celebration and Hinduism in general. Each year group then produced a piece of work to reflect on a different aspect of Diwali and other festivals of light.
HAF Programmes - running on the 19th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd December for 4 hours a day.
