This week in Nursery, we have had great fun with the story of the week 'The Gruffalo'. The children have enjoyed making hats, biscuits and much, much more.
We have been busy practicing for our Christmas repertoire of songs for you on the 6th December and even managed a practice evacuation incase we have to leave the building.
The children managed so well with the short walk to the church car park. As part of our topic this term 'Out of this world' we have also enjoyed celebrating events such as Anti-Bullying/Nursery Rhyme Week/ Children in Need to name but a few things along with last week's book 'Each, Peach, Pear, Plum'.
We have been strongly focusing on Communication & Language over the past two weeks, looking at describing what we can see, listening to descriptions, and drawing them - using a wider range of vocabulary and listening carefully to the story, not to mention joining in with repeated phrases.
In Reception, this week we have really loved our Space themed week! We read the story of 'Whatever Next?' and played in our own space rocket in the Outside Area. What would you take to space with you? What is it like to live in zero gravity? In class we made our own rockets and astronauts and retold the story.
In our Reading Squads this week, we worked so hard at blending sounds to build words and understand the story. We have our reading squads three times a week and love sharing the book with a friend. We are getting so much better at writing our letters and creating words, we even noticed when the words rhymed like hat/bat. Well done everyone!
In Maths, we looked at counting backwards and used special abacuses called 'rekenreks' to count carefully and understand that numbers can be broken into smaller numbers for example 6= 4+2. Keep up your counting practise at home!
