In Year 6, we have been enjoying lots of new topics.
Writing:
In our writing lessons we have continued our work on 'Holes' and written some amazing letters home. We learned about relative clauses in our grammar lessons and were able to effectively use these in our writing.
Maths:
In maths, we have been learning long division using a method called 'Does Mcdonalds Sell Cheese Burgers?' (which stands for Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Check, Bring down/up). Although this has been a tricky topic, we have made our teachers proud with our perseverance and resilience!
Science:
In science, we have continued learning about the circulatory system and have completed an investigation about how exercise impacts our heart rate. For this experiment, we first took our resting heart rates, and then completed three different exercises for three minutes: walking, running and star jumps. Each time, we took our heart rates and recorded the results. In between each exercise we took a short break to ensure a fair test!
Geography:
In our geography lesson this week, we continued learning about coastal features such as bays, headlands, spits, stacks and stumps. Fascinating stuff!
Unfortunately, we had our last swimming lesson this week but will be continuing indoor PE next week with dodgeball!
Children are expected to complete the following:
5 reads in their reading diary each week
Complete one task from the homework grid each week
In total, year 6 should spend between 1hour - 1hour and a half in their homework each week.
If your child needs any help with their homework, children can attend homework club on a Monday or speak to their class teacher for support.
