What a great few weeks we have had in year 5!
In English, we have continued reading the text 'London Eye Mystery'. We started looking at the features of a newspaper report and even recorded our own newsflashes detailing the events of the story! The children, then looked at a WAGOLL and identified the features of the newspaper. The newspapers were brilliant to read and really show the children's understanding of the book!
In maths, we have been looking at rounding and adding numbers to 1,000,000. Why not ask your child the rules of rounding or how they use the column method to solve addition problems?
We have continued our new 'Dynamic Dynasties' history topic looking at the history of China. We have taken a further look into the Shang Dynasty. The children have researched the importance of religion in the Shang Dynasty and the social hierarchy. It is brilliant seeing the children getting an insight into a different cultures history!
In science, we have been looking at different forces such as friction, gravity and air resisteance. The children have taken part in different investigations: testing which surface has the best friction and which parachute would have the most air resistance acting on it.
Brilliant work so far year 5!
