Aerial Silks

Aerial silks is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a fabric. The fabric may be hung as two pieces, or a single piece, folded to make a loop, classified as hammock silks.

Hand-Balancing

The practice of balancing on your hands in a variety of positions and transitioning between them gradually.  Doing a handstand is the very basic form of hand-balancing.

Trapeze

A trapeze is a short horizontal bar hung by ropes or metal straps from a support.  It is an aerial apparatus most commonly found in circus performances.  Trapeze acts may be static, spinning (rigged from a single point), swinging or flying, and may be performed solo, double, triple, or as a group act.

Contortion

Contortion is the skill of twisting and bending one's body into strange and unnatural positions, as a form of entertainment.  It utilizes flexibility, the range of motion in a joint or group of joints and the ability to move those joints effectively through a complete range of motion.  Flexibility training includes stretching exercises to lengthen the muscles.

Lyra

The aerial hoop, also known as the lyra, aerial ring, or cerceau/cerceaux, is a circular steel apparatus that resembles a hula-hoop.  It is suspended from the ceiling, on which circus artists perform aerial acrobatics.
