Ninth-Grade students enrolled in the Freshman Sampler will take a total of 0.5 credit of Health and Physical Education.
10th Grade Students will enroll in one trimester of 10th grade Health and Physical Education.

Course Description:
Students in sports medicine will become lifelong learners in regards to physical fitness and well-being throughout their lives by studying the anatomy and physiology of the human body in conjunction with laboratory experiences with an athletic trainer. Topics in anatomy and physiology will include, but are not limited to, musculoskeletal system, endocrine system, and respiratory system. Anatomy and physiology knowledge will be enriched with training in first-aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition, students of this course will learn how to budget and inventory materials.

Course Description:
In this course, students will be introduced to the field of exercise science. This course allows the opportunity for students to learn the basics of kinesiology, human anatomy, biomechanics, as well as, muscular, and skeletal purpose and function. Students will be given the opportunity through various lab experiences and guest speakers to compare and contrast how health professionals across a broad landscape of careers such as exercise physiology, physical therapy, personal training, orthopedic surgery, and athletic training, apply this background knowledge to apply to their professions.

In this course, students will take what they have learned in An Introduction to Exercise Science and Other Athletic Related Fields, and apply those concepts to themselves and their peers through an interactive strength and conditioning course in the weight room. Unlike other weight training classes students will be responsible to create their own programming, apply it in real time, and assess the outcomes. Students will be introduced to a number of strength training concepts such as hypertrophy, FITT, overload, rehabilitation techniques, pre-habilitation, flexibility, muscular strength, endurance, and power. These various training modalities also apply to various health related fields such as strength and conditioning, personal training, physical therapy, and athletic training. Students will also learn basic weight room etiquette, safety, and weight lifting technique.

Course Description:
During this time, students will complete sport specific training, including additional strength and aerobic training, as well as specific skills, concepts and activities related to such sports under the direction of Lebanon High coaches. It is designed to better prepare the students for the rigors of their sport. Prior to selecting this option, students should consult with the varsity coach of the sport in which they are interested. They must complete the first level weight training course prior to entering or coach approval from previous weight room experience.
