Work Permit Guidelines

Please bring the following items to obtain a work permit:

1. Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor Form CDE B1-1
2. A valid photo I.D.

Work Permits are required for paid employment for all students under the age of 18.

Per CVUSD School Board Policy 5113.2, students issued work permits for the school year

must adhere to the following guidelines:

• Grade Point Average

  • Students must have a grade point average of at least 2.0 for the prior grading period.

• Current grades

  • You may be denied a work permit if you have an F in any class.  Please come to the CCC for clarification.

• School attendance

  • Students must be attending school regularly and be on time at least 90% of the time.

  • Student’s attendance and grades will be monitored. Work Permit will be revoked and the employer contacted if a student does not maintain satisfactory grades and attendance.

Steps to fill out a work permit:

1. Download and print the form.  You can find the work permit form HERE.  

2. Fill in the top portion completely and legibly, including Social Security Number, and parent signature.

3. Take the Work Permit Application with you when you interview for jobs.

4. Have your new employer complete the middle section, including signature before you returning it.  

5. Make sure it is complete and legible! Missing or illegible information will delay the processing of the work permit.

Once the application is complete, please bring it to Reception for processing.
