Looking for money to help pay for college?  

Scholarships are free and don't need to be repaid! 

There are many different types of scholarships. They can be based on an area of study, merit/achievement, community service, or financial need. Merit can be academic achievement, test scores, athletic, musical, or other special talent(s).

Caution: You should never have to pay for scholarships. In addition, it is important to know what potential colleges will do with any scholarship winnings. For more information click HERE.

Military Scholarships

AIR FORCE & SPACE FORCE ROTC:  Air Force ROTC is one sure way to get the most out of your college experience. If you are awarded a scholarship, you become obligated when you accept and sign an agreement with the Department of the Air Force (DAF), either the U.S. Air Force (USAF) or the U.S. Space Force (USSF). Applicants who receive a scholarship will have the option to convert their scholarship benefits (capped or uncapped) to a room scholarship where on-campus housing or housing billed through the university will be paid up to $10,000 per academic year.  Application deadline: December 12, 2025.

ARMY ROTC: Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), pays for your tuition while you go to college and train to become an Army Officer. High school students who apply for ROTC are eligible for scholarships covering up to the full cost of tuition based on merit and grades, plus $420 per month for personal expenses and $1200 per year for books. Application deadline: March 4, 2026. 

MARINE ROTC: The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Marine Option allows those with a fighting spirit the opportunity to earn a commission in the United States Marine Corps as they complete their studies at a participating college or university. Selected applicants receive full tuition, books stipend, educational fees and other financial benefits OR Room & Board. Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers in the Navy or Marine Corps. Application deadline: December 12, 2025.

NAVY ROTC: The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) is a scholarship program that provides full tuition, books stipend, summer training cruises and more so you can enjoy a traditional college experience while preparing to serve as a Naval Officer. Application deadline: January 31, 2026.

COAST GUARD: High school students can apply for several US Coast Guard-affiliated scholarships, including the annual merit-based scholarships from the Coast Guard Foundation for dependents of active-duty and retired members, and the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX) Scholarship Program for dependents of personnel, reservists, and Auxiliarists. For students in their junior or senior year of high school, the Coast Guard also offers summer AIM program to experience the Academy, and the College Commissioning Initiative (CSPI)  program for those interested in a full-tution in exchange for future services. October Deadlines

Zachary Zernik Memorial Scholarship: The Turkey Day Dash is excited to present the Zachary Zernik Memorial Scholarship. Awarded in conjunction with the annual Thanksgiving run/walk, the prize will go to two high school students who demonstrate an interest in community service, environmental stewardship, music, and/or athletics. Winners will be announced on the day of the race (November 27, 2025) and receive a $500 award.  Application deadline: October 1, 2025.

Community Service Scholarship: The Law Firm of Anidjar & Levine will award a $2,500 scholarship to the student who best demonstrates the relationship between their community service and future career goals and ambitions. Application deadline: October 1, 2025.

YoungArts: YoungArts award winners receive cash prizes between $250 and $10,000.  Applications are now being accepted in 10 disciplines, Classical Music, Dance, Design, Film, Jazz, Photography, Theater, Visual Arts, Voice & Writing. Application deadline: October 8, 2025.

Niche Scholarship: We are giving one student $40,000 to help pay for tuition, living expenses, books, and other educational expenses. No essay required! Application deadline: October 15, 2025.

Pretty Photoshop Actions Scholarship: Carefully research and compose an essay-style Adobe Photoshop tutorial of at least 800 words, including original screenshots and photos used to illustrate your points on one of  5 topics. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship. Application deadline: October 15th, 2025.

Moving Mountain Scholarship for Hispanic Students: The Moving Mountain Scholarship is open to Hispanic/Latino students who are U.S. citizens currently enrolled in high school who have moved mountains in their life. To move mountains means to achieve something incredibly difficult. It means overcoming obstacles, persevering in the face of adversity, and achieving success against all odds.  Scholarship award is worth $1,000. Application deadline: October 15, 2025.

Marc Stirdivant Scholarship for Justice: The Tuna Canyon Detention Station was the site of the unjust World War II incarceration of Japanese, German, Italian aliens, and others. We preserve this history by encouraging creative media. Marc Stirdivant, for whom this scholarship was established, believed in the power of diverse coalitions and preserving places. John Broesamle "Local Hero Award" : The "Local Hero Award", sponsored by the Turtle Conservancy, will honor a high school student for impactful watershed conservation work with a $5,000 prize, a bronze Southwestern Pond Turtle, and public recognition at a May 2026 awards gala. Application deadline: October 17, 2025

NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award:  The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) High School Award honors 9th - 12th grade students in the AiC Community for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Application deadline: October 28, 2025.

Chick-fil-A Community Scholars: Chick-fil-A has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college, or a vocational school. If selected, the student will be granted up to a $25,000 award. Up to (13) awards will be granted. Application deadline: October 28, 2025.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Youth Scholarship: The Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. The theme is "How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?". The national first place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1,000 - $21,000, and the first place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins at least a scholarship of $1,000. Application deadline: October 31, 2025.

Women's Ministries Scholarship:  Scholarships are given to women who are committed to serving the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who would otherwise be unable to afford a Christian education. Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and community outreach. Specific amounts of scholarship awards vary each year and are dependent on the amount of funds available. Application deadline: October 31, 2025.

Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything Esthetics Scholarship: This scholarship is open to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) students who are looking to enroll in aesthetics, skincare formulation, or cosmetic chemistry programs. The scholarship awards $5,000 to three (3) BIPOC students to help pay for cosmetology school expenses. Application deadline: October 31, 2025.

November Deadlines

Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards:  The Youth Awards honors high school seniors with a one-time grant who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories, including: Community Service, Engineering, Green Sustainability, and Technology. Colgate-Palmolive is proud to sponsor the Youth Awards through the "Haz La U" (Make the U) college grant program for high school seniors. Your effort could be rewarded by receiving one of 31 educational grants with Colgate providing $100,000 in total support. Application deadline: November 2, 2025.

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship: The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2026 competition ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Application deadline: November 12, 2025.

The Cooke College Scholarship: The Cooke College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. The award, which is last dollar funding after all institutional aid, can provide as much as $55,000 per year to pursue a bachelor's degree at any accredited undergraduate institution. Application deadline: November 12, 2025.

The Platta Law Firm Students with Disabilities Scholarship: The Platta Law Firm represents everyday people that develop disabilities as a result of unfortunate accidents. The award is a $5,000 scholarship to make someone's journey through school a little easier. Application deadline: November 14, 2025.

10 Words or Less Scholarship: The Scholarship Value is $1,000. To be eligible a student must 1) Be between the ages of 14-25 who will be attending school in the Fall of 2026 and 2) A student must answer the question on the website in 10 Words or less. Application deadline: November 15, 2025.

National Space Club Scholarship: The National Space Club offers a scholarship of $20,000 to a high school senior with plans to pursue a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields. This scholarship is awarded to a U.S. citizen, and plans to study at an accredited educational institution in the United States. Application deadline: November 17, 2025.

December Deadlines

Hagan Scholarship Foundation: The Hagan Scholarship Foundation is a need-based merit scholarship for goal-driven students. Award recipients will receive $2,000 to purchase essential items for college. Award recipients will be eligible to receive up to $7,500 each semester. Application deadline: December 1, 2025.

Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship: Application opens on October 3, 2025! Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship provides financial assistance for high school students at all academic levels who provide outstanding community service to organizations that are involved in the fight against hunger. Win up to $5,000! Application deadline: December 5, 2025.

The Coolidge Scholarship:  The Coolidge Scholarship cover's a student's full tuition, room and board,  required fees for four years of undergraduate study, and an annual stipend for books and supplies. Coolidge scholars must possess a distinguished academic record. Competitive candidates will have pursued and succeeded in the most rigorous course of study available to them. Application deadline: To be Determined.

Common App Scholarship: The Scholarship Guidance "Common App Scholarship" is designed to help students with the cost of their studies. The Scholarship are for students in grade 11 or 12, attend college or university no later than October 1, 2026, have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater and answer ONE of the essay prompts found in the application. The Scholarship value is $2,000 with (2) awards available. Application deadline: December 15, 2025

Nurse.org Healthcare Leaders Scholarship:  The nurse.org $1,500 Healthcare Leaders scholarship is offered to students entering, or currently pursuing, and educational program related to nursing or medicine. Application deadline: December 31, 2025. 

February Deadlines

California State PTA Scholarships: The California State PTA offers two scholarships for graduating seniors:  

(1) Volunteer Service Scholarship recognizing graduating seniors for volunteer service in their communities who are PTA members graduating from a CA HS between January and June 30 of the current academic year. 

(2) $500 Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship pursuing a career in the medical field. Deadline: 02/01/25 11:59 PM PST

Elks Legacy Awards for Children/Grandchildren of Lodge Members: The Elks Lodge offers $4,000 scholarships to children and grandchildren (who are high school seniors) of Elks members. Deadline: February 3, 2025, 11:59 a.m. Pacific Time. NOTE: This is NOON, mid-day, Pacific time 

Hispanic Scholarship Fund: The HSF offers a range of $500-$5,000 scholarship based on need to high school students who have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university for the 2024-2025 academic year, and submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms. Deadline: February 15th, 2025

Brawerman Leadership Institute Scholarship – The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles: The Brawerman Leadership Institute offers $40,000 scholarships to Jewish graduating seniors who will be attending an accredited 4-year university in Fall 2024, with at least a 3.5 GPA, deep commitment to leadership, and community service: Deadline: 02/17/25

Christermon Beverage Industry Scholarship: The Christermon organization offers scholarship money for graduating California high school students who are the children, grandchildren, or legal guardians of persons who hold full-time employment with, or are a proprietor of, a company holding a valid CA liquor, beer or wine license, including restaurants, hotels, retail & wholesale establishments, airlines, brweries, wineries, etc. Deadline: 02/15/25

Conejo Open Space Foundation Scholarship for Environmental Studies:  The Conejo Open Space Foundation offers $1,000 each to students residing in and attending a high school in the Conejo Valley or larger Ventura County area, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and planning to attend an accredited college or university on a full-time basis, planning to enter a career related to sustainability, ecology, resource management, or preserving the natural environment. Deadline: 02/15/25

George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest: This essay contest offers a cash award for high school students in any grade, who are U.S. Citizens and Legal Residents. Students must submit an original 800 to 1,200 word essay based on an event, person, philosophy, or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the U.S. Constitution. Deadline: 02/15/25

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Program: The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Program offers up to $6,000 in scholarships and support to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students who plan to become educators, school nurses, school counselors or school therapists. Deadline: 02/21/25

American Association of University Women Thousand Oaks-Speech Trek:  AAUW's speech contest is open to all high school students in California. Students will answer a question on the topic: "Select one area of impact and explore the effect climate change is having on women in the USA and around the world." If students qualify for finals they will be eligible for different cash prizes (minimum of $100 and maximum of $2500). Deadline: 02/22/25

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc 1983 Scholarship: The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc offers a scholarship to a high school senior of color currently enrolled in a Southern California public or private high school within the Southern California area who has a minimal C+ average (75%)2.5 GPA or better. Debra K. Geist Birns Scholarship:  This Birns scholarship offers $500 for Ventura County high school seniors pursuing a 4-year university degree pursuing business careers Deadline: TBD

Shared Energy Future Foundation Scholarship: The Shared Energy Future Foundation is accepting applications for its 2025 scholarships awarding $20,000 for STEM education and trade schools. High school seniors can apply for one of (10) $1,500 STEM scholarships or (5) $1,000 trade school scholarships. The deadline to apply has been extended! SEFF’s STEM scholarships aim to empower students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, fostering innovation and addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals who can drive innovation in energy production, resource management, and environmental sustainability. Deadline: 02/28/25 at 11:59 P.M.

March Deadlines

American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars: The ACS offers a range between $1,000 to $5,000 to high school seniors [U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents (inquire via email for asylum and DACA status)] intending to major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science with a 3.0 GPA or higher.  Deadline: 03/01/25 https://www.acs.org/education/acs-scholars/apply.html 

American Welding Society (AWS) Foundation: The AWS offers a range from $2,500 to $7,000 to high school  pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in welding or a related discipline. Deadline: 03/01/25

California Mayflower Society Scholarship: California Mayflower Society Scholarship awards one $5,500 scholarship, one $3,500 scholarship, one $2,500 scholarship, and one $1,000 scholarship to high school seniors who are related to a Mayflower passenger. Deadline is no later than 11:59pm, Saturday, March 1, 2025. 

USPAACC Scholarships: USPAACC offers between 10-20 scholarships every year to high school seniors nationwide who are employed / parents employed at an Asian-owned or Asian cuisine restaurant, of any ethnic heritage, planning to attend a two-year or four-year college, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and involved in community advocacy or social justice work on behalf of Asian American, immigrant, gay and lesbian and/or other progressive causes. GOYA Foods Culinary Arts Scholarship:  Goya awards four scholarships of $5,000 each (renewable and maximum award of $20,000 per award recipient) for high school seniors pursuing culinary arts/food sciences who plan to enroll in an undergraduate degree at a two-year or four-year U.S. accredited institution (Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Deadline: 03/03/25 at 3 PM CT

California Credit Union Student Scholarship: California Credit Union offers 30 scholarships of $1,000 each to high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0, school or community involvement, a letter of recommendation and an essay submission. Deadline: 03/07/25

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship:  This scholarship offers a range of awards from $10,000 to $25,000 to high school juniors who have demonstrated critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income)

Unified Association of Conejo Teachers Scholarship Award: The UACT offers scholarship awards to high school seniors who are children or dependents of UACT members planning to attend a two-year, four-year, or trade college.  Please see PDF below or visit D-2 for a paper application: Deadline: 03/14/25

Shell Oil Company Scholarship:  Shell offers to sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,5000 for graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell. Deadline: 03/15/25

Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship for students of Portuguese descent:  The Cabrillo Civic Club offers a $500 scholarship for students of Portuguese descent, with a 3.5 GPA or higher, who has participated in 3 extracurricular activities. Deadline: 03/15/25

Kinecta Student Scholarship: Kinecta offers $2,000 scholarships each year to help high school seniors aged 24 and younger. Funds will be paid to the winner's college/university. Deadline TBD 

National Latino Peace Officer's Association of Ventura County Scholarship: NLPOAVC offers $1,000 for high school seniors interested in law enforcement careers who are Latino or promote diversity in school, community, or the work-place. Deadline: 03/24/25

Birns, Inc. 93033 Scholarship: This scholarship offers $500 in funding to students pursuing either a two-year or four-year degree that reside in the 93033 area code with records of extracurricular or community service. Deadline:  See application below or visit D2 for paper copy

Conejo Chinese Cultural Association (CCCA) Scholarships: CCCA offers two scholarships to TO seniors:

• 2025 CCCA Academic Merit Award Scholarship are now open to local high school seniors who are also graduates of Thousand Oaks Chinese School (TOCS) 

• 2025 CCCA Community Service Award is also open to Thousand Oaks High School seniors. Visit D-2 for a paper application and for any questions.

Cobell Native American and College Scholarships:  The Cobell Scholarship Program offers a scholarship for Native American/ Indigenous students who are enrolled members of a U.S. Federally recognized tribe, enrolled in full-time study and seeking a degree from any accredited postsecondary institution. Deadline: 03/31/25

April Deadlines

Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award: Zonta offers  37 international awards of $5,000 for young women aged 16-19 committed to volunteerism, service, and advocacy. Deadline:  04/01/25

Ventura County Japanese American Citizens League Scholarship:  The Ventura County JACL offers a scholarship to high school seniors of Japanese ancestry or a member of JACL planning to attend a two- or four-year college, university, or trade school in fall 2024. *Applicants do not have to be of Japanese Ancestry Deadline 04/01/25

The Robert E. Dempster Memorial Scholarship: This $1,500 scholarship is open to all deserving high school students who will graduate in 2025. Mayflower descendancy is not required. Scholarships will be paid directly to the receipient's school of choice upon verficiation of acceptance/enrollment. Please see more details by clicking on the scholarship title above. Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship:  The Italian Catholic Federation Offers first year scholarships in the amount of $400 will be awarded to approximately 150 applicants. First year scholarship winners are eligible for second, third, and fourth year awards of $500, $600, and $1,000 respectively. To be eligible, students must achieve a total cumulative GPA (3½ years) of at least 3.2 and meet one of the following:

1. Are Roman Catholic and of Italian Descent and live within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of California, Illinois and Nevada, only where Branches of the Federation are established; or,

2. Are Roman Catholic but need not be of Italian Descent or live where Branches of the Federation are established if either Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is a member of the “Italian Catholic Federation.” Deadline: 04/01/25

Cliff Hyink Wood Scholarship Application: Two $1000 one-year scholarships are available for two Thousand Oaks High School graduating students in the wood working classes who will enroll in a 2 or 4-year college/university or vocational school in the fall of 2025. Kelli & Austin Sincock Scholarship for the Arts: This Kiwanis scholarship offers three scholarships of $1,000 each to a graduating student from Thousand Oaks who intend to pursue a field of study (either trade, technical, specialized, Baccalaureate, Associate) in the Arts (performing arts, studio arts, visual arts) in the fall of 2025. CSEA Dependent Scholarships | California School Employees Association:  CSEA offers $1,000 in scholarships to dependents and spouses of CSEA members who are graduating high school seniors. Conejo Simi Moorpark Association of REALTORS 2025 Patron Scholarship Award Application: This local association of realtors offers one $2,500 scholarship to a Lancer who completes the application along with two letters of recommendation from teachers,school counselors, employers, or civic leaders. Future Track Running Pack Cash Scholarship: The Future Track Running Pack offers $2,000 to cross country and or/track & field senior athletes for those who have participated in at least 2 years of cross country and/or track & field, attain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (out of 4.0) (Transcript required), plan on continuing education post-high school, attend a short interview with Future Track Running Pack scholarship committee, and provide a letter of recommendation from a HS coach, teacher, or counselor. Westlake Women's Club Scholarships: 

(1) The Westlake Women's Club offers $2,000 to one graduating senior from Thousand Oaks High school, based on financial need and GPA higher than 3.5. Community and school activities will also be taken into consideration. 

(2) Special Needs Scholarship offers $1,500 to one senior from Thousand Oaks High School, based on financial need, academic achievement, community and school activities. 

(3) The Westlake Women's Club also offers $2,000 to one graduating senior from the CVUSD based on financial need, GPA higher than 3.7, and community and school activity participation.

Bank of the Sierra Scholarship for Seniors:  The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) offers a Bank of the Sierra Scholarship for Seniors who live in counties of Fresno, Kern, Kings, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara.
