News- Hello grownups! We had such a sweet and wonderful week in preschool! Here is what we've been up to!
We have been working really hard at following step-by-step directions making crafts. Last week we made a cow, since we've been working on the letter C. We also made a rabbit shaped like the number 2.
We practiced writing the letter C, we worked on the hard sound of C. I did not point out that the letter also makes a soft sound, but that is usually taught in the 1st grade. We used our road tracing and made the letter C out of playdough.
Our number of the week was 2. We practiced understanding one-to-one correspondence even though that's a skill we learn later, but I think it's important to introduce the idea while we're learning to count and for our friends that already know how to count, this is a good skill to start developing.
The color of the week was yellow.
We read so many books and are practicing "sitting on squares or sitting in chairs." I give them the option to sit in their chair or sit on a carpet square. I'm okay with either as long as we are sitting. Some of the books we read this week were, This Book Was A Mistake, George's New Dinosaur, and Dr. Seuss's ABC.
For our fifth week of school we will work on the letter D, number 3, and color green! Later this month we will celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day! In the past I've had students test taste different kinds of apples. I'm going to offer apples to all of our friends, but I won't force anyone to try something they're uncomfortable with trying.
