Stacey Rogers graduated from MIT a long time ago with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her senior project / thesis was working with a team on an ice-skating chair braking system for individuals with lower mobility impairment. (Yes, she has been watching the 2022 Paralympics and is reminded that you should ask the customer their requirements. It doesn’t look like the athletes really need / want a braking system…) After graduation, as a beneficiary of a ROTC scholarship, she reported to her first ship where she started her 28-year odyssey with the US Navy and Navy Reserve. Upon completing her 4-year active-duty obligation, Stacey joined Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco after several months of information interviews and self-discovery exercises.
Stacey has worked in the Project Controls Department for over 25 years executing projects in the Oil and Gas, Civil/Infrastructure, and Government industries. Her favorite project was a constructing a 25+ floor high rise office building in downtown San Francisco, followed closely by working in Sydney with the Australian Navy on an organizational transformation initiative. What she likes best about her group is that while it is all “dollars and days”, the projects are always different with something new to learn. Stacey is currently the Nuclear Security & Environmental (NS&E) Deputy Manager of Estimating for Project Estimators for the government business line, and has most recently worked on an estimate to build a submarine dry docking system.
Stacey retired from the US Navy Reserve several years ago from her role as the Chief of Staff for the Joint Staff Reserve element in Hampton Roads VA, and is a veteran of OPERATION DESERT STORM and IRAQI FREEDOM. She is a mom to one Freedom High School junior and two dogs. Stacey has seen a fair portion of the globe, lived in Spain and Australia, and is still working off her “bucket list” of places to go visit.
