Lauren Arjes is currently a school counselor at Freedom High School, but recently left being in the food service industry for the past 11 years. Lauren had graduated from college with an undergraduate degree in history and elementary education. However, at the time it was difficult to procure a full-time teaching position, so while substitute teaching, she also got a job working in a restaurant. Within a few months Lauren was offered a management position which she took and as they say the rest is history.
Within the industry Lauren has held numerous positions as an hourly employee including a hostess, server, caterer, vendor and bartender. She even had the opportunity to be a traveling store opening trainer where she got to go to Indiana to help open a new restaurant. As a manager Lauren has worked in both the back of the house and the front of the house overseeing all areas such as the host stand, bar, dining room and the kitchen. She has been able to work for both large corporate chain restaurants and small locally owned restaurants. While she has left the restaurant industry, there are many aspects of it that she misses, especially the large number of people she has gotten to meet and work with.
