Joseph An grew up in New York and graduated from Cornell University in 2016 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. At a lab there, he studied the role of immune cells called microglia in disease progression of a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.
Joseph then moved to the DC area and started working at the NIH in a lab studying survival signaling pathways in a mouse model of a type of T cell leukemia. He also received a M.S. in physiology from Georgetown University and then entered medical school at the same place. He's graduating this May and will likely start his residency in internal medicine with hopes to specialize in hematology-oncology.
