Hello Students! Welcome to a week of Learning!

Please test your child on their multiplication facts. Go to the website Math-Aids. Click on multiplication and choose the timed multiplication test which you can print. Time your child for 3 minutes. If they get every problem correct move them on to the next multiplication fact. Your child should know which fact they are currently on.

Please make sure to keep all of your work neatly in your folders.

Monday


Language Arts
  1. Write each spelling word three times each.
  2. Read "The Wolf and the Fox" by The Brothers Grimm Pages 22, 23, 24, 25.
  3. Complete "Commas in Dates and Addresses" below

ExercisePractice aerobics indoors. Do 20 Jumping Jacks, jog in place for 3 minutes and have a Dance party: Turn on the music and dance!
Math
  1. Practice Multiplication Math Facts - Write 3 times each. If you have passed multiplication practice division
  2. Complete 3 pages of Math as shown below. Pages 811, 812 and 813 .

Art
  1. Today read about the artist Paul Klee below and look at his photograph and paintings.
  • This can be done on a piece of colored construction paper if you have it. If not, any paper is fine.
  • Today you will be creating a drawing in the style of Paul Klee.
  • Begin your drawing with a pencil following the step by step directions below. Try to draw a continuous line and not take your pencil off the paper. If you do take your pencil off the paper, place your pencil in the same place you stopped so it matches up. Tomorrow you will color your drawing.

Science
  1. Go to school Links and click on the San Diego Zoo Link
  2. In Live Cams watch a live video of Pandas.
  3. Click on "Learn more about pandas."
  4. Write 3 things you have learned about pandas in three sentences.

  • Compare and Contrast the Wolf and the Fox. Three sentences describing how they are the same and three sentences describing how they are different.
  1. Complete "Irregular Plural Nouns" below.

Exercise
  1. Freeze dance: Play music then have someone turn the music on and off. When the music stops, freeze in your pose and hold it until the music begins again.

  1. Today you will learn how to draw in perspective. Perspective is what gives a three-dimensional feeling to a flat image such as a drawing or a painting. In art, it is a system of representing the way that objects appear to get smaller and closer together the farther away they are from the viewer.
  2. You will be drawing a road which becomes smaller in the distance.
  3. Follow the directions for "Draw a Vanishing Point Road". Make sure you use a ruler so your lines are straight.
  4. Tomorrow you will color it in.

Science

  1. Have a family member or guardian give you a spelling test of the words you have studied this week-(No Peeking)
  2. Complete Comprehension vocabulary test below. "Pages 130, 131 and 132", questions 14 to 18.
  • For question 18 reread the stories "Anansi.and the Stories" and "Why Wisdom is Everywhere" from last weeks test.
  • Write your opinion for question 18 in 3 sentences using text evidence from both stories to describe why you have your opinion.

IMPORTANT: Have your parents take a picture of your tests and email them to your teacher. This week you will be turning in your Math test, Spelling test and Comprehension test. They need to be turned in by 12:00 noon on Friday. Please send pictures of your favorite art project of the week! You may be in the picture if you wish, but only if your parents give permission to send it to your teacher. It will be posted in next weeks link to share with the class and may turn up on the El Dorado website in a video presentation!

  1. Write a journal entry of at least 3 sentences. End your day with a Squiggle drawing and writing. Ask your parent to draw a squiggle for you to start. Use your parents squiggle to create a picture and write three sentences about your picture. Each sentence must be at least 8 words in length.
