Our central idea is 'The choices we make may have consequences on who we are and who we become'.
Using the Key Concepts of change, causation and responsibility, the lines of inquiry we will explore are:
How to manage change in our lives
How to build strong, positive relationships
Ways to create positive changes in the world.
On Monday, Year 6 were lucky to visit the Gurdwara in Gravesend. Although it was a short visit, the children were able to learn lots about the different features of a Gurdwara. They learnt about the Guru Granth Sahib, and were fortunate to visit the Langar during their visit. Year 6 were all very respectful during their visit and followed the correct rules around washing hands, listening respectfully and wearing a scarf to cover their head.
Well done to Year 6, who had a fantastic time at their final sports day at HPA! It was lovely to see the excellent sportsmanship on display. A big well done to the overall winners, Leopards, and Redwood class, who just about won the Redwood vs Cedar relays!
During our DT lessons this term, Year 6 planned a coat of arms that represented them. Last week, they were finally able to create their coat of arms, using the sewing skills they learnt earlier in the year. We think that the children did amazingly well with this.
Last week, Year 6 were able to present their PYP Exhibition to Year 5, and their families. The children have worked hard on these projects over the past few weeks, and have worked alongside a mentor to plan what work they would complete each week. They worked hard to develop their independence during this time.
It was wonderful to see the children choose a project they were interested in, and speak to passionately about their causes.
Today, we had a wonderful afternoon with Year 1! Firstly, we supported Year 1 with their typing skills, and taught them how to change their writing by underlining, making it bold and using italics. Year 1 even taught us a bit about dinosaurs, and were very knowledgeable about the different types of dinosaurs they had to write about.
After this, Year 6 invited Year 1 to test out their buzzer games, that were created last term. They weren't all easy, but Year 1 tried very hard!
There are lots of exciting events going on for Year 6 this term! Please find below a copy of the information letter that was sent out on MCAS, as well as costume information for the production.
