Good evening, one and all. We're having a great time at UKSA; today, after a rather early wake up from some...(6am - can I have my hair braided please?), we had an enormous breakfast before slithering back into wetsuits for the day's activity. Today was a whole day of dinghy sailing, as one big group - to begin with, we were taught the basics of sailing (who knew it was called a boom because that's the noise it makes if it hits you on the head...) before being towed out into the Solent and trying out our newly learnt skills. Let's just say the results were variable, with Hartley's dinghy's scattering the horizon in multiple directions! After a while, and some capsizing (no names, Mrs Smith), we started improving and before long, we were sailing around happily and, almost, skillfully. Lunch was eaten on a nearby beach with the children then enjoying some time playing in the sea before playing some dinghy-related games. The sail back into UKSA was a peaceful affair - until we got off the boats and the mad race to take wet suits off and be the first into the showers began! Dinner was lovely again and our evening activity of knot-tying was enjoyed by all and followed by a delicious birthday cake! All the rooms were in bed asleep by 10.30 which is a vast improvement on last night's effort! Tomorrow, we split into smaller groups for our activities. Photos are below for day 2:
