See below.
Objective
Students will learn acting, singing, dancing, stage combat skills as well as information about the West End industry.
Description
Students will participate in singing, acting, dancing, and stage combat workshops with real West End performers organized through the program “West End on Demand”. There is no Broadway equivalent for this experience so get ready for the chance of a lifetime! There will be a showcase at the end of the week to perform a song, monologue, or dance for a special guest. Throughout the week we will also be attending West End shows, including one backstage tour, the Harry Potter Studio Tours, and general London sightseeing in-between. This week will be nonstop!
Student Requirements and Expectations
Students will be required to fully participate during the week and perform a song, dance, or monologue in front of their peers and a special West End guest at the end of the week. Students should have an interest in musical theater performance. Students will be grouped 4 to a room, and 2 to a bed. Passport requirements: students must have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date.
Passport information
The passport application and renewal processes have change dramatically since pre-COVID. If you do not have a passport or it is about to expire, please take care of this immediately if you are assigned to this project.
Students who have a valid, non-US passport, should see their project leaders as soon as possible because travel guidelines may be different for them than for US citizens.
About the Faculty
Ms. Plewa is a huge fan of all things musical theater and participated in a program like this. It was amazing for her to be coached by actual professional actors who were performing the same dance they were teaching us in the studios later that night on a stage for a huge audience.
Mr. Faulkner is an avid supporter of the arts, and being British, has many links to the West-End, London and its history.
Special Considerations
Accommodation considerations - Students will be expected to sleep in shared accommodations.
Expectation for physical activity - This project will require a significant amount of physical exertion and possibly some physical discomfort. Students on this project should be willing to deal with discomfort, at times, in inclement weather. Students are expected to be able to participate fully in all these daily activities.
Passport Requirement - Students must have a valid passport that expires more than six months upon return.
Scheduling (Out-of-Town) - This project will have time commitment outside of the M-F (8-4) typical school week. Please note that there is an expectation that students are able to attend the whole time the project is running.

Supervision while sleeping - Students might be unsupervised for extended periods of time during sleeping hours (hotel, hostels, etc.).
