Project Location/Destination: In town
Faculty Leaders: Shane Enderle & Derek Haverland
Dates: Sunday, March 12 - Friday, March 17 (Please note project begins on Sunday, March 12)
Cost: $520
Objective
Students will learn to produce limited-edition products by hand and computer-aided manufacturing processes.
Description
Students will learn small batch fabrication using a variety of techniques, from silk screen t-shirt designs to hand carved block prints you can make at home. Afterwards, we will learn how to create similar designs using CNC routers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters. Learning to create and use repeatable casting forms for resin casting will wrap up our week. Each student will leave the week with finished items for most projects.
Student Requirements and Expectations
No experience is required for this project but a desire to combine art with hands-on work will make the week all the more enjoyable. Students will be expected to strictly follow safety guidelines while in the woodworking shop and makerspace. Various power tools and sharp hand tools will be used throughout the week. We will also spend time working on computers creating digital designs for some aspects of our work.
