Year 3

Year 3 have had a busy and enjoyable term. As part of our inquiry, 'By learning about those that came before us, we can better understand our lives today', we visited the Dover Museum to look at how a museum was arranged. It is where the world's oldest seafaring boat is displayed. We also participated in a Bronze Age Boat clay workshop and made our own models.

When we got back to school, we started to inquire into other civilisations around the world that existed at the same time as the Eurpoean Bronze Age. We learned about life in Ancient Egypt and the Shang Dynasty. We created oracle bones and other artefacts. We then split into groups to create our own class museum to share with the parents.

We were very proud of ourselves! Even Willow was impressed!

We also had a great time at our coronation celebration. We made syrup scones that we ate on the field. We wrote to King Charles III, and Mrs Mansfield and Miss Nelson have posted our letters to the palace. We played lots of games on the field and some of us preferred to stay on the MUGA for our monster dance-party. There were lots of staff leading the dances!

This term, we also had a visit from Adrian from Kent County Cricket to teach us during PE.

We have some budding cricketers in Year 3!

As always, Willow was a regular visitor to check we were working hard!

In Science, we have also been investigating light and shadows and doing plenty of experiments!

Next term, our central idea will be: People make choices on how they use Earth's resources. We are looking forward to our next school trip to Howletts in the last term.
