Year 4

It's been a busy last term in Year 4! We have had so much fun enjoying the lovely weather and we are all looking forward to Year 5!

To parents and carers; thank you all so much this year for your continued support and ensuring your children have what they need for their learning. We really appreciate everything you have done this year.

To Cameo and Ambrosia; Thank you to everyone this year for being such fantastic inquirers and learners. You have impressed us time and time again with your perseverance when things get tricky, your willingness to help adults and each other, and your kindness to everyone. Miss Smith, Mrs Fernandes, Miss Killick, Mrs Tripp and Miss Chapman all wish you the very best of luck in your new Year 5 classes, we know you will have the best time!

Inquiry and Experiences

We have thoroughly enjoyed our central idea this term all about Mental Health and wellness. We have designed our own gyms and wellness centres, researched the importance of supporting mental health, thought carefully about what makes us happy, and created some fantastic art using bright and happy colours. We were also lucky enough to take part in a Anti-Racism workshop which was fantastic and made us think carefully about what words we use in the classroom and beyond. We have also made some delicious fruit skewers, thank you Miss Lloyd for helping us with our knife skills! On the last week, Year 4 enjoyed a lovely picnic on Wednesday afternoon with games, food, bubbles and music. It was a fabulous end to Year 4!

Maths

This term, we completed our Multiplication Tables Check with fantastic results! Well done to each and every one of the children, your hard work really paid off! We have also focused on position and direction, looking and grids and coordinates. The children were keen to play battleships afterwards! We also explored the properties of tricky shapes. We spent the last few weeks of Year 4 recapping the key topics that are important for Year 5, such as Place Value and Roman Numerals. We encourage the children to keep playing TTRS in the summer holidays ready for more maths learning in Year 5.

Have a fantastic and safe summer holidays, thank you for all your hard work this year.
