Year 1

Year 1 have had a super last term with lots of fantastic learning experiences around our central idea; 'Traditions encompass our lives.'

Inquiries and Experiences

We participated in an in-house workshop on dragon puppets, led by Miss Dobing. This linked well to the Chinese New Year traditions and the classes made their very own large dragon. The children covered different writing pieces encompassing what they have understood about traditions.

The end of the term concluded in the long-awaited school trip to Rochester and a visit to the Guildhall Museum. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

For our maths learning we have explored the concepts of time: half past and o'clock and the children showed they are knowledgeable through use of little clocks. We then used our addition skills in our inquiry into money.

Sports Day was a huge success and the children showed team spirit and enthusiasm when doing their sports challenges. It was so lovely to see such support from the grown ups as well; we have missed this in previous years.

And finally...

It has been a very busy year and both Enterprise and Jubilee Class have grown in confidence as lifelong learners. The Year One Team would like to say that we are immensely proud of all of the children and wish them a super Summer break and start to Year Two.

Thank you to all the parents and carers for your support with your children's learning this year. We are sure you will agree that they have blossomed.
